Nathan Madison Jr, 71, of Luverne, AL, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children.

Nathan was born on September 7, 1950, to Nathan, Sr. (“Pap”) and Arthur Mae Madison in Pike County, AL.

Nathan attended and graduated from Goshen High School in the Class of 1969, where he enjoyed playing basketball and track & field and loved math. He went on to study at LBW Community College and received an Associate Degree in Science. After graduation, Nathan joined the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Vietnam War where he served 2 years of service. Nathan worked at Luverne Slack Factory in Luverne, AL then began working for South Alabama Electric Cooperative (SAEC) in Troy, AL in 1972. From then, he served faithfully as a hardworking & dedicated lineman & leader to becoming a General Foreman in his 50 years of service. Nathan was the longest active employee in SAEC history.

In the same year of 1972, Nathan married his childhood and high school sweetheart, Patricia Merritt.

He transitioned from this earthly world on Thursday March 24, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Mary Hellon Hines, Cumi Merriweather, & Barbara Ann Rodgers.

He leaves to cherish his legacy & loving memories with his beloved wife Patricia Merritt Madison of 50 years. Nathan & Patricia were blessed with three wonderful Daughters: Juawana (Terry) Walker, Jurethia Madison, and Jessica Madison; three Grandchildren: Jashaante' (Chris) Ohanjanian, T'Yanna Walker, and Junathean Cleveland; and 1 Great Grandchild: Jaxon Ohanjanian. Nathan is also survived by 3 sisters: Thelma Jean Shepherd, Autrey Lee Bryant and Minnie Williams; 2 brothers: James Nelson Madison, Sr. and Foshen Madison, Sr.; In-laws: Charlie (Mary) Merritt, Varnor (Annie) Merritt, Juanita Merritt; Special friends: Charlie (Bubba) Clark and Martin (Marty) West; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nathan was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, and he made it his life’s mission to ensure they knew it.
