Mary Motes

Mary Rushing Motes, age 89, a lifelong resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 7, 2020, at 3 p.m. in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Wayne Locklar officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary was born on November 1, 1930, to John Mack Rushing and Eula Lee Spivey Rushing. On November 29, 1947, she married the love of her life James Grady Motes who preceded her in death on January 15, 2012. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carla M. and David Huie; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jana Motes; grandchildren, Melanie Garner (Wes), Lauran Lott (Frankie), Kimberly Garrett (Terry), Karri Booth (Kevin), Josh Langston (Kristina), Sawyer Langston, and Julianne Darnell (Joey); great-grandchildren, Wesley and Preston Garner, Will and Lee Lott, Sydni, Molly, and Reece Garrett, Jackson, Allie, and Madi Booth, and Grant and Adam Langston; sister, Margaret Swatzell; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Motes; brother-in-law, Bill Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
