Jeannie Clark

October 13, 1975 — May 9, 2021

Jeannie Elaine Clark, age 45, a longtime resident of Ozark, Alabama, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 14, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Turvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery (County Road 11, Ozark) with Cain Turvin, Noah Williams, Haisten Lisenby, Matthew Goolsby, Salvador Flores, and Tim Byrd serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jeannie sought the silver lining of life’s quips, found light along dark paths, and inspired others to live brightly. She carried a heart for service and trained through the Ozark Health and Rehabilitation to earn her qualification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. For nearly 10 years, she immersed herself into the care and encouragement of the residents and was delighted to nurture so many precious and memorable relationships. When Jeannie met unexpected health problems at an early age, she found herself a resident at the same facility, yet still fostering a ministry for health, hope, and happiness. She enjoyed the occasional friendly wager of a resident’s bingo game, the opportunity to spruce-up for seasonal pageants, and any chance for pampering and manicures. Jeannie was an enthusiastic armchair cheerleader for the Crimson Tide and never missed the highlights from gamedays. She was dubbed “transfer truck”, “meatball”, and “bumblebee” by those who loved her best and loving her was an easy feat. Jeannie always said, “I love you more, because I can.” She would want everyone to embrace her spirit─find the good, lift a hand, shine a light, lead the way─because you can.

Ms. Clark is survived by her daughter, Angel Marie Clark (fiancé, Salvador Flores); mother, Janetta Peters Goolsby; siblings, Tabitha Williams (Ed), Ellen Turvin (Johnny), and Matthew Goolsby; nieces and nephews, Harlie Williams, Cain Turvin, Noah Williams, McKenzie Williams, Haisten Lisenby, Lacie Goolsby, and Shayana Goolsby; maternal grandmother, Betty “Gran” Peters; and a special friend, Daniel Childs. She was preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Goolsby, Jr.; paternal grandparents, John and Lithel Goolsby, Sr.; and maternal grandfather, Toby Peters.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Ozark Health and Rehabilitation for their continuous care and support and SpectraCare of Ozark for their attentive service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society (PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123), American Diabetes Association (2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202), or to No Kid Hungry C/O Share Our Strength (P.O.
