Brian Lassiter

January 14, 1962 — March 26, 2022

Brian Eugene “Swamp Owl” Lassiter, age 60, lifelong resident of Pike County, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 10:00-11:00am with a graveside to follow at Mossy Grove Cemetery.  Rev. Rick Hayes and Shane Davenport officiating.

Brian was born on January 14, 1962, to the late Eugene and Mae Wambles Lassiter.  He graduated from Charles Henderson High School in the class of 1980, and then went on to get a degree in Forestry.  He joined the Army, transferred to the National Guard, and enjoyed traveling to Germany, the Panama Canal, and Japan.  After over 37 years, he retired from the Department of Transportation, then returned as a consultant with the Stormwater Department and helped develop the by-laws and regulations for the stormwater division.  He served as the President of the State of Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Society from 2011-2012. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans as well as the Sons of the American Revolution.  Brian enjoyed history reenactment, primitive cooking over a campfire, and working outside.  He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Loving survivors include his wife of 39 years, Jean Jones Lassiter; his daughters, Michelle “Nikki” Davenport (Shane), Tiffany Jo Baker (Matt) of Troy, Alabama; sister, Angie Lassiter Tatom (David) of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Dalton Dickey, Kaitlyn Davenport, Keaton Baker, Kenna Baker; as well as an uncle, Leroy Wambles, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, John Tatom.

The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Pearlstein and staff along with Southern Care New Beacon Hospice of Montgomery for their loving care and kindness.  In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Mossy Grove Cemetery Trust Fund, c/o Mandy Young, 208 Green Dr., Troy, Alabama, 36079.
