William Gilbert Sanders, Jr.

William Gilbert Sanders, Jr., born on October 10, 1962, passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2026. His departure has deeply saddened all who knew him and leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication, ingenuity, and a warm devotion to his family.

Gil was a hardworking man whose passion for building and tinkering was evident throughout his life. From a young age, he was enamored with motorcycles, an interest that stayed with him into adulthood. He famously built a motorcycle in the back room of his home while his daughters were little—an emblem of his creative spirit and skill. Whether working on motors or constructing new projects, his hands brought ideas to life, reflecting a lifetime of resourcefulness and determination.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, JoAnne Sanders; his daughters, Beth Hall and her husband Al, Shandi Coco and her husband Michael, and Amber Brown and her husband Joseph Mann; and his treasured grandchildren Justin Hall, Lillian Hall, Abigail Hall, Michael Gabel, Toni Gabel, Emily Brown, and Wilson Brown Jr.; great-grandchild, Baby Hall, also carries forward the family's lineage. He is further survived by his brother, Ronnie Sanders (Robbie Griffin), as well as his sister Eugenia McCarter. William’s extended family includes several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom hold his memory dear.

Gil’s parents, William Gilbert Sanders Sr. and Irene H. Sanders, preceded him in death, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a nephew. Their memories live on through the stories and traditions they passed down to him and the family he so cherished.

A visitation to honor Gil’s life will be held at Green Hills Funeral Home, in Troy, on April 17, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. This time will offer an opportunity for family, friends, and all who were touched by Gil’s life to come together, share their memories, and pay their respects. A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Center Ridge Methodist Church at 11:00am. 

William Gilbert Sanders, Jr. will be remembered as more than just a builder and motor enthusiast; he was a dedicated family man, a tireless worker, and a beloved presence in the lives of those around him. His unexpected passing leaves a profound void, yet his spirit endures in the hearts of his loving family and community. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy inspire those who follow.
