William Wright Curtis, Jr. peacefully passed away on June 24, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on October 27, 1940, William's life was a testament to dedication, faith, and an unwavering love for his family and community.
Bill's journey began in Alabama, where he was shaped by the guidance and values of his late parents, William Curtis, Sr. and Nell Curtis. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Moore Curtis, Jimmy Clyde Curtis, and Joseph Richburg Curtis, whom he cherished dearly.
A proud graduate of Auburn University, Bill set the foundation for a lifelong vocation in agriculture, a calling that reflected his deep commitment to service. His distinguished career spanned 35 years at the Auburn University Extension office, where he devoted himself wholeheartedly to assisting farmers and supporting agricultural growth throughout the region. Bill took great pride in seeing the legacy of farmwork continued by his beloved son, Will, a testament to both his influence and encouragement.
Bill’s profound sense of faith played a guiding role throughout his life. He was a faithful member of Troy First Methodist Church, where he cultivated meaningful relationships. His dedication extended further as a former deacon at Parkway Baptist Church and through mission work, always striving to serve God and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Those who knew Bill will remember his warm presence and the joy he found in family above all else. He built a loving life with his wife of almost 50 years, Diane, whose companionship and support were cornerstones of his happiness. Together, they celebrated the achievements and milestones of their children, Will Curtis (Kellie) and Kimberly Price (Sterling), and found particular joy in the lives of their granddaughters, Anna Leigh Price and Frances Kimberly Price. Bill’s pride in his family was evident to all who spent time with him.
Beyond his professional and family accomplishments, Bill embraced life fully. He enjoyed jogging and exercising, nurturing both his health and his spirit. A committed Auburn fan, he delighted in cheering for his alma mater and sharing that excitement with those around him.
