Thomas Wayne Haney, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Visitation will be held at Green Hills Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. A private, family graveside gathering will follow at the Jones Family Cemetery where he will join pre-deceased family members.
Tommy served his country in the US Army and upon returning to Troy, he continued his service to others in the field of law enforcement and later joined the staff at Troy University until his retirement.
Tommy’s first love was his family, spending time with them was his priority but he also had a great love for riding his motorcycle and joining friends and supporters of the Patriot Guard Riders, again furthering his service to others and living by their motto, “Standing For Those Who Stood For US”. Additional interests included fishing, woodworking, a good football season and meeting up with his breakfast club to catch up on the latest news.
Later in life, Tommy also had a desire to further his education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University, now known as Troy University. He was a hardworking man who expected as much from others and was devoted to his family and taking care of them. Tommy, our Daddy and loving PawPaw, will be missed and has left a void in our lives.
He is survived by his beloved daughters Lynn Haney Colley (Steve), Jessica Haney Goolsby (Casey); four grandchildren, Ashton Ingram Parmer (Clint), Carter Goolsby, Scarlett Goolsby, Evelyn Goolsby; two great grandchildren, Jack Parmer, Easton Parmer; and many in his extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie-Ann Haney; father, J.T. Haney; mother and stepfather, Margaret Sizemore Floyd (Roger); and his sister, Vallie Haney Shipp.
