Susan Taylor Thames, born on August 28, 1949, in Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. A woman of strength, grace, and unwavering devotion, Susan leaves behind a legacy cherished deeply by all who knew her. She loved the holidays when she could share memories with her family.
Susan is lovingly remembered by her son, Christopher Todd Thames. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Mary Jayne Taylor Dobbins and Emily Gail Taylor Jones, whose bonds with Susan were filled with heartfelt memories and shared experiences. Her nieces and nephews—A. Rick Redmond, Bryan T. Redmond, Daniel L. Redmond, Frank Parker Thomas, Mary Kimberly Taylor McQueen, Kelly Brown Taylor Parlier, Mary Watkins Taylor Jones, and Thomas Hudson Taylor—carry forward her memory with respect and affection. Alongside them, several cousins will mourn the loss of a treasured relative whose presence brought warmth to family gatherings.
Susan’s life was shaped in part by those who preceded her in passing, including her brother, Thomas W. Taylor Jr.; her devoted parents, Thomas W. Taylor Sr. and Mary Hollis Taylor Foster; and her beloved grandparents. Their memories remain an indelible part of Susan’s story, connecting past and present through the enduring ties of family.
A private service will be held on April 10, 2026 at Green Hills Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her mother. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Thames family.
