She was easygoing, loved a good joke, and had a way of bringing joy and laughter to those around her.

Sara Nell Hazen Golden, known by many as "Teancy," born November 12, 1932, in the Dugan Community near Henderson, Alabama, passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 93. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, faith, and family that will continue to live on through the many generations who were blessed to know and love her.  Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Green Hills Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service, and her nephew, Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating. Burial will follow the service at Green Hills Cemetery.

Sara Nell was the beloved wife of the late Murray Argis Golden and the loving mother of her son, Richard Golden, whom she affectionately called “Her Baby Boy.” Those precious words reflected the special bond they shared and the forever place he held in her heart.

Sara Nell had a beautiful spirit and a smile that seemed to never fade. Regardless of the circumstances life brought her way, she could always be found with a smile on her face. She was easygoing, loved a good joke, and had a way of bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She had a special love for children and animals, and her gentle heart and cheerful nature were a blessing to those who knew her. Her smile, laughter, and loving spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in her life.

Above all, Sara Nell loved the Lord. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and those who knew her often said she had a “direct line to God.” Her prayers had power, and the people around her knew that when Sara Nell prayed, she prayed with faith, conviction, and a heart devoted to the Lord. Her relationship with God was more than words; it was a living testimony that touched the lives of those around her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on through her son, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her great-great-granddaughter, and the many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her.

She also loved Southern Gospel music, finding joy and comfort in the songs that celebrated her faith, hope, and love for the Lord. Gospel music was another reflection of the deep faith she carried throughout her life.

One of Sara Nell’s greatest blessings was her family. She was a proud grandmother to two granddaughters, Celeste Russo (Chris) and Caity Ray (Steven). Her family continued to grow with six great-grandchildren: Lexi Anthony (TJ), Connor Russo, Cassidy Ray, Lila Russo, Preston Ray, and Daniel Russo. She was also blessed with a great-great-granddaughter, Lily Joy Anthony.

Sara Nell is also lovingly remembered by her nephew and nieces, Wayne Locklar (Alyene), Dwight Graham, and Pam DeSouza. Her extended family includes her great-nieces and great-nephews: Julianne West (Judson), Meredith Wesley (Daniel), Whitney Adams (David), Cameron Baggett (Lee), Scarlett Pearson (Kyle), Stephen Graham, and Blake DeSouza, along with countless great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Her family was a living testament to the generations of love and connection that grew from her life. Each generation carries forward a part of her story, ensuring that her memory and the love she shared will continue for years to come.

Sara Nell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Murray Argis Golden; her mother, Lila Mae Blocker Hazen; her father, Everett Roosevelt "E.R." Hazen; and her sister, Mary Frances Locklar (Carey).

Though Sara Nell’s earthly journey has come to an end, the things that made her so special will never be forgotten her ever-present smile, her love of children and animals, her easygoing nature, her laughter, her love of Southern Gospel music, and, above all, her unwavering faith in the Lord.

Her life was a blessing, her love was a gift, and her faith was a testimony. The prayers she lifted, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave will remain treasured memories for the family she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on through her son, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her great-great-granddaughter, and the many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her.

Sara Nell will forever be remembered as a woman who carried a smile through every circumstance, loved the Lord with all her heart, and believed in the power of prayer.

May she rest in the eternal peace and loving arms of the Lord she loved so dearly. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Golden family.
