Robert Durward “Butch” Powell, age 59 of Troy, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Weed and Rev. John Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell is survived by his parents, Bobby and Opal Powell of Troy, AL; sons, Shannon Powell of Troy, AL; Zachary Powell of Newnan, GA and Taylor Powell of Newnan, GA; brothers, Dean Powell and Dale Powell of Troy, AL, Sister, Sharon D. Watkins of Chattanooga, TN; and numerous other extended family members.
Mr. Powell was lettered in football at Charles Henderson High School and Troy State University, he was a loving son and father, a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to read.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Powell, Jimmy Whitehead, Danny Rachel, Ben Powell, Chris Worrell and Wayne Catrett. Honorary pallbearers will be classmates and lifelong friends.
