Mary Helen Catrett

Mary Helen Catrett, 75, passed away on August 28, 2026, at home surrounded by her family.

Mary was a wonderful wife and an amazing mother whose life was marked by devotion to those she loved and by the simple joys that brought people together. She retired from Luverne Slacks, where she worked in the sewing industry. Outside of work, she found happiness in music, family time, and shared experiences that became treasured memories for those around her.

She loved singing around the piano at home while her husband played, and she also enjoyed singing in church with the worship team. Music was a meaningful part of her life, as were country music concerts and shopping trips that added fun and fellowship to her days. Mary also loved riding around town in antique cars and going to antique car shows with her husband, moments that reflected the companionship they shared and the pleasure she took in life’s special outings.

Above all, Mary centered her life on family. She is survived by her daughter, Annitta Catrett Moultry (Averett), and by her grandchildren, Rico Moultry and Adrianna Moultry; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dora Ann Baggett; and several nieces and nephews. Each of them carries forward the memory of her love, her warmth, and the steady presence she brought to their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Catrett; her father, Charlie Lowe; her mother, Maxie Lowe; and her brother, Thomas Clarke Lowe. Their memories remained a lasting part of her life and story.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Green Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Green Hills Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and concern of her caregivers, Pearl Ousley, Annie Miles, and Kendra Russaw as well as to Compassus Hospice.  Mary Helen Catrett will be remembered with love for her kind spirit, her devotion to her family, and the joy she found in music, togetherness, and the moments that made life sweet.
