Margaret Joyce Littlefield Fassel, formerly of Buffalo, New York, and South Daytona, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, surrounded by her family in Troy, Alabama.  A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Joyce was born and raised in Buffalo, New York.  She was married to the late John P. Fassel, Jr. and raised their children there.  She worked as a secretary for the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo in the education department.  Joyce was a devoted member of the Ladies of Charity for many years.  She enjoyed playing the piano and was in a polka band with her husband. An accomplished seamstress, her daughters remember the matching dresses she sewed for them to wear to church on Sundays.  Joyce was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Society of Mayflower Descendants, and was active in the National Society of New England Women.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Carlson (John), Laura Thomas, Patricia Fassel; daughter-in-law, Kim Fassel; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Diane Weimer; her brother-in-law, Eric Merle Ahl; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John P. Fassel, Jr.; infant daughter, Deborah Fassel; her son, John Mark Fassel; her parents, Dwight and Margaret Littlefield; and her sisters, Sharon Pratt and Kathleen Ahl.
