Mae Louise Jordan Dansby, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. Louise lived a life filled with purpose, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. A visitation will be held on September 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Green Hills Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 PM. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, we honor Louise’s kind heart, vibrant spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
In the 1950s, Louise began her career as a switchboard operator, a position that led her to work in various roles in a hospital, bank, and several clinics in Troy. She later became a familiar face at Sike's and Kohn's Country Mall, where she embraced the opportunity to meet new friends and engage in daily conversations that brightened her and others' lives. Her warm spirit and welcoming demeanor were a source of joy to many.
Known for her impeccable sense of style, Louise always took great care in dressing up, even for routine trips to the grocery store. With a love for shoes and colorful clothing, she turned heads wherever she went, embodying a vibrant personality that matched her beautiful attire. She was not only stylish but also a voracious traveler, an avid reader, and an excellent cook, always ready to share a delicious meal and stories around the table. Above all, Louise cherished her role as a caretaker for her family. Her compassion extended beyond her immediate family, as she took pride in supporting and loving everyone she held dear.
Louise embraced life with a bright spirit, her personality shining through in the laughter she shared and the warmth she offered. Her family, which includes daughters Pam Dansby Sloan (Frazier) and Kim Dansby Rugg, as well as grandchildren Mollie Rugg (Brice), Adam Sloan (Catrina), Jared Sloan (Aimee), and Haylee Bull (Jordan) will hold her memory close to their hearts. She will forever be remembered by her sister, Sue Barnette and several nieces and nephews, all of whom carry a piece of her loving spirit within them. Louise was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Murray Dansby, as well as her parents, Willie and Lottie Jordan. She is also mourned by the memory of her granddaughter, Celeste Kitchens, and her siblings who have gone before her.
The legacy of Louise Dansby will live on through the lives she touched. Louise will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff and the chaplain at Enhabit Hospice for their care and concern the past few months.
The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dansby family.
