Louie Max Bundy, age 86, of Troy, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Born on June 21, 1939, Louie was one of twelve children born to Freeman and Eva Bundy of Tarentum, Alabama. Growing up in such a large family, Louie learned the value of hard work at an early age, helping with farming and working to support his family.
As an adult, Louie worked as a plumber and electrician for Pike County Electric Company before retiring from Hudson Industries. In retirement, he found his greatest joy outdoors. He took immense pride in his well-maintained yard and loved growing tomatoes, watermelons, peppers, and cucumbers, carefully tending to his plum and fig trees. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and football. On sunny days, Louie could be found relaxing on his back porch swing with his two cats, Susie and Tuxedo, listening to music.
Known lovingly as Daddy, Paw Paw, Brother, and Friend, Louie embraced each of these roles wholeheartedly and left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Louie is survived by his children, Paula Bundy Rushing and Max Wesley Bundy (Lynn); his grandchildren, Grace Merilee Rushing, Ally Madeline Rushing, Morgan Celeste Bundy, and Max Wesley Bundy, Jr.; and his sisters, Martha Jo Ellis and Judy Dunnavant Kelley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Eva Bundy; his siblings, James Bundy, Willie Arthur “Bill” Bundy, Richard “Tab” Bundy, Bernice Vance, Loretta Osborn, Linda Adams, Sarah Joyce “Jody” Pope, Connie Pearl Allen, and Ouida Grimes; his son-in-law, Gary Michael Rushing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 2:30 until service time inside the mausoleum at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. A graveside service, also inside the mausoleum, will follow at 3:30 pm with Pastor Cary Mauldin officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Senn, Brody Fisher, Russell Wade Bundy, and Mike McDaniel.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Compassus Hospice and their compassionate nurses for the comfort and support they provided, as well as to Karen Williams, Diane Williams, Darlene Thomas, and Linda Gail Thomas for the exceptional, loving, around-the-clock care they gave to our Daddy and Paw Paw.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider making a donation to Troy Animal Rescue Project (TARP).
