Lloyd Lamar Gardner, fondly known as “Lee,” passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on January 22, 1950, Lee brought a spirit of warmth and steadfast devotion to all chapters of his life, touching the hearts of everyone he met.

Lee’s enduring love of the outdoors was evident throughout his years. He found immense joy in hunting, and nothing delighted him more than a day spent fishing. His happiest moments were often on the lake in his boat, surrounded by friends and family, sharing stories and laughter. Lee’s legendary fish fries became a cherished tradition—an opportunity for those close to him to connect and celebrate together under his generous hospitality.  Lee also loved Alabama and you could hear him holler- "Roll Tide!"

A veteran of the US Army Gulf War, Lee served his country with honor and distinction. His dedication extended far beyond his military years as he continued to serve his community as a fireman and paramedic. Lee also contributed to public safety as a member of the fireman and rescue team at the local airport, always prepared to lend his strength and expertise to those in need.

Family was central to Lee’s life, and his love for them was both deep and unwavering. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Strickland; and his children: Andy Gardner, Stacey Hickey (Colin), and Adam Strickland (Elizabeth). His legacy continues in his grandchildren—Will Gardner, Kayla Gardner, Justin Hickey, McKenna Hickey, Regan Hickey, Abbie Strickland, and Lily Strickland—each of whom he adored. 

Lee will also be remembered by his dear friends Wormy, Henry, Paul, Scruffy, and Miss Frankie, whose companionship brought him laughter and camaraderie over the years. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Gardner, his mother, Mary Emma Gardner, and his sister, Delores Hansen.

Lee’s legacy is one of service, kindness, and a zest for life that he eagerly shared with all who knew him. The stories, lessons, and memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire and comfort his loved ones for years to come.
