It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Coleman Davis, age 84, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Crestview hospital with his family by his side. He was affectionately known to many as "Kenny" or "Ken" and always cherished answering to "Dad" or "Granddaddy". He was loved dearly by his family and friends who will miss him deeply.
Ken was born in July of 1941 to Larry and Hazel Davis of Troy, Alabama. He graduated from Troy High School in 1959 before attending Troy State College. It was there he met his loving wife, Sally (Higham) Davis, and went on to graduate with a BS in Mathematics and Physics in 1963. In that same year, Ken and Sally were married, and Ken answered the call to serve his country in the United Stated Air Force. During his service, he continued his education at Auburn University where he became a lifelong Auburn fan - a legacy that still lives strongly in the Davis Family - War Eagle! Ken, alongside his family, selflessly served for 24 years before retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1987. After retirement, the Davis family settled in Crestview, FL where Ken continued to reside until his passing.
Ken knew a little bit about everything. He had an appetite for learning and always knew the value of education - a gift he has graciously afforded to all his grandchildren. He had an incredible talent for fishing, a passion he shared throughout his life. Bass fishing was his favorite and over the years he was able to make incredible memories while sharing his love of fishing with so many friends, his family, especially his sons, and eventually his grandchildren. Ken always had a great appreciation for the outdoors and good music and enjoyed dancing the Panama City Bop at the Hangout in Panama City Beach with Sally spanning from their high school years through their later lives with the annual Panama City Bop reunions. Always the gentleman, Ken had a warm welcome, a hug to share and a great story to tell. Ken will be so deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him and to love him.
Ken was preceded in death by his father and mother Larry and Hazel Davis. His legacy still lives on in his loving wife, Sally Davis, his only sister Bette Swann, his oldest son Mark Davis and wife Cindy, his youngest son Michael and wife Susan-Leigh, and his three grandchildren that he was so proud of loved with all his heart: Michael Davis, Georgia Davis, and Matthew Davis.
Arrangements for a full military honor ceremony and a celebration of life will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Green Hills Funeral Home located in Troy, Alabama. Reception following the service. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Davis family.
