Karen’s legacy shines brightest in the loving relationships she nurtured with her family.

Karen Carr Peters, beloved mother, “KK”, and cherished friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on June 26, 2026. Born on January 30, 1957, Karen’s journey through life was one marked by warmth, laughter, and a profound devotion to those she held dear.

Karen’s legacy shines brightest in the loving relationships she nurtured with her family. She was the treasured mother of Abby Peters and Jace Colley (Brittany) whose gratitude for every moment with their mother knows no bounds. Karen’s grandchildren, Elizabeth Colley, Caroline Colley, and William Colley, knew her as “KK”—a title she wore with honor and endless affection. To them, and to any child who crossed her path, Karen gave open arms, a radiant smile, and a heart full of care. Family was her life’s central joy, and her delight in her grandchildren was unmatched.

She is remembered by her devoted sisters, Kathy Woodfin (Rick) and Karla Park (Dennis), who shared in her stories and laughter throughout the years. Karen’s presence brought light not only to her immediate family but also to her nieces, Tasha Rhodes (Mike) and Carrmen Jordan (Justin); nephews, Landon Park (Marley) and Tucker Park (Ashley); and her loving aunts, Merlene Owens, Judy Sikes, and Edna Morrow (Tommy), and countless family members and friends she held dear. The family’s circle of love and memory holds her forever close. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Jace & Kate Carr.

Her caring nature extended beyond her home and into her professional life. Karen dedicated many years to the business office at Edge Medical Center and Troy Health & Rehab, bringing precision and compassion to everything she accomplished. She shaped countless futures during her more than ten years in financial aid at Troy University—a place where her kindness left lasting impressions on the students she served.

Family was her life’s central joy, and her delight in her grandchildren was unmatched.

To know Karen was to know her love of life’s simple pleasures. A good book could captivate her, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate with family and friends. Casino nights became legendary thanks to her contagious laughter and quick wit. Dancing—especially to the melodies of the Park Band—allowed Karen to share her joy with everyone around. Her fun-loving, vibrant spirit lifted those who spent time with her.

Karen’s memory will be honored at Green Hills Funeral Home with visitation on June 30, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Tucker Park, Landon Park, Justin Jordan, Jack Davis, Hunter Mann, and Clayton Morgan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lyn Diefenderfer, Suzanne Tompkins, Mary Vance Ponder, and the Troy University Financial Aid office. Those gathering will remember Karen’s laughter, the gentle strength of her love, and the moments that made her irreplaceable.
