James C. “Jimmy” Law went to be with his Lord and Savior May 5, 2026, passing at his home in Troy, surrounded by his family. Services will be held at Green Hills Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9, with visitation at 9:30 AM and the funeral following at 10:30 AM. Pastors Tim Floyd and Zach Spann officiating. George Burttram, Hiawatha Jackson, Jeff Law, Josh Parrish, Ronald Pierce, Stewart Ray, Stae Sanders, and Ricky Swindall will serve as pallbearers.
Jimmy was born in Troy January 23, 1948, to Noble and Lucille Law. He was raised in the Ansley community, proudly attending Shellhorn School before graduating from Charles Henderson High School in 1966. He began a life of service at age 15, working after school at Dr. Edge’s hospital under the watchful eye of Ms. Rosa Lee Boswell. He went on to graduate from St. Margaret’s X-Ray School in Montgomery before returning to Troy to work at Beard’s Hospital in 1968 and then the new Edge Memorial Hospital in 1969. For over 32 years Jimmy served the community he loved at what is now Troy Regional Medical Center. Known for his professional skill and his caring, gentle manner, he was a friend to anyone in need.
Jimmy is survived by the love of his life, Dale Floyd of Goshen. Their simple home wedding ceremony in 1976 began a beautiful 50-year marriage. During their courtship he was saved by the redeeming love of Jesus, joining his family’s home church, Ansley Baptist Church, where he would go on to serve as a deacon. Jimmy and Dale had two children, Clare and Eric (Teresa), who still reside in Troy along with four grandchildren: Audrey, Noble, Sam, and Rich. He is also survived by his sister and best friend, Lois Ray of Fort Walton Beach, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Noble and Lucille Redmon Law, and his brothers Kenneth (Joyce), William (Joyce), and John (Sue).
In their first retirement, Jimmy and Dale built Noble Manor Assisted Living Facility. They would serve well over 150 residents over 22 years at Noble Manor. Working 12-hour days, six days a week was a labor of love, as loving on and serving the elderly seemed to be what he was made for. He loved cooking for residents and family, and they all enjoyed eating his cooking. But he never minded cleaning floors and carpets, helping with baths, or doing laundry at the facility.
Jimmy was a giver. Whether it was a gift, an act of service, or a thoughtful conversation and hug at just the right time, he was always looking for someone to serve. He was loved by all who knew him, and he leaves a legacy of love inspired by his Creator and Savior.
The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Law family.
