Dorothy Ann Nelson

Dorothy Ann Hughes Nelson, beloved wife and mother, went to Heaven on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. A private family graveside will be at 10:00am on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. 

Dorothy or “D.Ann” was a devout Christian who loved Jesus and everyone she met. She was a committed prayer warrior and had a group of friends from all over the southeast with whom she could call anytime and pray. Her sweet care and concern to pray for others was a testimony of her beliefs. Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed cooking and baking. She worked with her hands and liked to sew and even do a few woodworking crafts. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. 

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Craig Nelson; children, Wendy Watson (Kevin), Craig Tyre; grandchildren, Elizabeth Peach (James), Sydney Watson, Courtni Bodiford (Josh), Gabrielle Tyre; several great grandchildren, and her sister, Dana Glisson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Dorothy Hughes; sisters, Denny Hughes, Deborah H. Thorpe; and husband and father of her children, Bruce Tyre.
