Dawn Elizabeth Mixon passed away quietly in her home in Freeport, Florida on February 5, 2024. Born at Eglin Airforce Base, Fl., she was the daughter of Eleanor R. Dalton and Capt. Forrest A. Dalton Jr. Dawn graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School, worked at Eglin Air Force Base, and attended and graduated from Cosmetology School. She moved to California, married, and had one son, Stephen David Sibley. Dawn met and married Charles Mixon in 2006, and they were married on June 21, 2006. They were constant companions for just short of 18 years.
Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Mixon; Mother, Eleanor Reynolds Dalton Waldrop and Father, Capt. Forrest A. Dalton Jr.; brother, William R. Dalton; Niece, Elizabeth Ann Dalton; and Nephew Forrest Brooks Dalton.
Surviving Dawn is her son, Stephen David Sibley (Michelle); her seven siblings, Diane Dalton Hofeling (David), David Forrest Dalton (Linda), Caryl Gibson, Michael Howard Dalton (Anna), Samuel Theo Dalton (Trish), John Edward Dalton (Katherine), and Leticia Waldrop Gallo (Nick). She is also survived by nieces and nephews:  Chris (Tina), Benji (Shuzheng ), and Cami Dalton; Matt , Sam, Amelia Harris (Ben), and Andrew Hofeling;  Michael (Laura), John (Jiahui), David (Yazuni), Forrest (Vanie), Jake, Leah, and Olivia Dalton; Robert Sells and Leya Pieroni;  Jacob (Catie), Orijane (Jon Ryan), and Griffin (Laura) Dalton; Samantha Lucas (Emmet) and Alexandra Campbell (Rob); Caryl Dalton (Darius Chen), and Yannie Lombardo (Zach); Victor, Joseph, Yvette, and James Gallo, Letia (Joe) Ben, Michelle Bohannon, Brian Mixon, Tonya Mixon, Diane Mixon Barnett, Joyce Mixon (Randy), Brenda Mixon (Steven) Miller. 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 4,2024 at Green Hills Funeral Home, and Cemetery: 1621 US Hwy 29; Troy, Alabama at 12:00 PM officiated by Reverend Brian Dovey. 

Charles Donald Mixon passed away quietly in his home in Freeport, Florida on November 24, 2023. Born in Geneva, Alabama to the late Millard and Lillian Medley Mixon. He attended Prosperity Elementary School, graduated from Ponce de Leon High School, and attended college at Gainesville. He was in the Navy from Oct. 1961 until Oct. 1967, serving on the USS Hancock. He served with duty, honor, and love for his country. After leaving the Navy, Charles was a Walton County Forester for 32 years working for the State of Florida, Division of Agriculture. 
Once retired, he enjoyed family, reading, fishing, hunting, traveling, photography, rock collecting, and bird watching.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Trinidad; his mother and father, Millard and Lillian Medley Mixon; brothers, James Mixon, Roy Gene  Mixon; mother-in-law, Eleanor R. Waldrop; brother-in-law, William R Dalton; niece, Elizabeth Ann Dalton; nephew, Forrest Brooks Dalton.
Surviving Charles was his wife Dawn Elizabeth Mixon until her death on Feb. 5, 2024.

Surviving Charles are nieces and nephews: Letia (Joe), Ben, Michelle Bohannon, Brian, Tonya Mixon, Diane Mixon Barnett, Joyce Mixon (Randy), Brenda Mixon (Steven) Miller, Stephen David Sibley (Michelle) Diane Dalton Hofeling (David); David Forrest Dalton (Linda); Caryl Gibson; Michael Howard Dalton (Anna); Samuel Theo Dalton (Trish); John Edward Dalton (Katherine); and Leticia Waldrop Gallo (Nick).  She is also survived by nieces and nephews  Chris (Tina), Benji (Shuzheng ), and Cami Dalton; Matt, Sam, Amelia Harris (Ben), and Andrew Hofeling;  Michael (Laura), John (Jiahui), David (Yazuni), Forrest (Vanie), Jake, Leah, and Olivia Dalton; Robert Sells and Leya Pieroni; Jacob (Catie), Orijane (Jon Ryan), and Griffin (Laura) Dalton; Samantha Lucas (Emmet) and Alexanda Campbell (Rob); Caryl Dalton (Darius Chen), and Yannie Lombardo (Zach); Victor, Joseph, Yvette, and James Gallo.  

Our family would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to Monisha Larkins and Melessia Redding for their companionship, care and love for Charles and Dawn. We thank Gentiva Hospice and request memorial donations be made to Gentiva Hospice:1045 US Hwy 331, Unit C, Defuniak Springs, FL 32435, in memory of Charles and Dawn Mixon.
