Carroll Grant Hughes

April 22, 1944 — August 16, 2025

Troy

Carroll Grant Hughes, 81, of Troy, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Born April 22, 1944, in Goshen, Alabama, to Leven Logan and Mary Alice Hughes, Carroll lived a life marked by faith, integrity, and steadfast devotion to the people he loved.

Carroll was a builder in every sense—of businesses, of Sunday tables set with an abundance of food, and of a family bound tightly by his example. In 1973 he founded a swimming-pool business that became his life’s work and legacy. He loved the craft of building pools and the joy they brought to others. Just as much, he loved gathering family and friends every Sunday to cook for them, visiting around the table with the humble, kind-hearted spirit that defined him. His work ethic was tireless, his integrity unwavering, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was, in every way, the backbone of his family.

Carroll is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Annette Hughes; his children, Matthew John Hughes (fiancée, Payton Spencer), Kimberly Hughes McLeod (Jason Parker McLeod), and Lisa Hughes Fisher (Samuel “Brody” Fisher); his treasured grandchildren: Bailey Grant Hope, Alex McGuire Fisher, Caroline Grace Fisher, Parker Grant McLeod, and Emma Hollon McLeod; his sister, Julia Faye Hughes Vaughan (Donald Vaughan); and his brother, Johnny L. Hughes (Jane Hughes). He was preceded in death by his parents, Leven Logan and Mary Alice Hughes, and his son, Darrel Hughes. He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends who will miss his steady presence, warm laugh, and servant’s heart.

A visitation will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Perry Green and Ray W. Floyd. Pallbearers will be James Hughes, Evan Hicks, Faron Evans, Miles Hicks, Max Bundy, and Steve Wilkes.  The family invites all who knew and loved Carroll to join in remembering a good man who worked hard, loved deeply, and left his world better than he found it.

“Well done, good and faithful servant."

The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hughes family.
