Carla Motes Huie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away July 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a woman of quiet faith, strength and deep devotion, whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved. Visitation will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Green Hills Funeral Home with a graveside service at 2:00pm at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Terry Garrett, Kevin Booth, Jackson Booth, Wes Garner, Preston Garner, Wesley Garner, Frankie Lott, and Will Lott are serving as pallbearers.
Before her health challenges, she found peace and happiness outdoors—working in her yard, fishing in the pond her father built, and watching the birds that reminded her of her own mother’s gentle spirit. She had the most tender heart for God’s animals, whether it was a stray cat, a songbird at the feeder, or a deer in the distance, she cared deeply for all of God’s creatures. She was also a passionate fan of college sports, always cheering for her favorite teams. But her heart belonged most fully to her family—especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and who brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
Carla is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, David Huie; daughters Kimberly Garrett (Terry) and Karri Booth (Kevin); grandchildren, Sydni, Molly, and Reece Garrett, and Jackson, Allie, and Madi Booth. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Motes (Jana); nieces Melanie Garner (Wes) and Lauran Lott (Frankie); several aunts, and a host of cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Grady Motes and her mother, Mary Rushing Motes.
Her legacy of love, gentleness, and selfless care—for her family, her faith, and every creature God made—will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the exceptional and compassionate care provided by Troy Regional Medical Center. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Huie family.
