Burton Green

Burton Rivers Green, a lifelong resident of Pike County, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Judge Wes Allen, Dr. Mallone Chandler and Rev. Perry Green officiating.  Burial will follow in the Old Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, from 4-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be the Charles Henderson High School Class of '61 and employees of Green Land Company, Inc, past and present  Burton was born on June 12, 1943, in Pike County to Alice Fannin Green and Bazil Manly Green. Burton married Judy Pierce Green on August 29, 1964, in Montgomery. He is a 1965 graduate of Troy State University with a degree in Marketing and Business Administration, and later put his degree to work as the owner of Green Land Company.  Burton loved the outdoors, reading, music, politics, but most of all spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bazil Manly “Bob” Green, II; and sister-in-law, Christine S. Green. He is survived by his wife, Judy Pierce Green; children, Emily Green Ellis (Emory E. Ellis, Jr.), Virginia Green Nowling (K. Blake Nowling), Sally Green Molyneux (Charles H. Molyneux, III); grandchildren, Jessica L. Hensley (J. Tanner Hensley),  Jacob R. Green (Anya Green), E. Earl Ellis, III, William C. Ellis, Gabriella A. Ellis, Alexandra L. Ellis, K. Brayden Nowling and Olivia P. Molyneux.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Alabama Kidney Foundation (PO Box 12505, Birmingham, AL 35202) or the Old Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mabeth Gibson (238 County Road 1101, Troy, AL 36079).  Friends and family can sign the guest book at www.greenhillsfuneralhome.net.
