Troy

Boyd King Drinkard, loving husband and father, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Green Hills Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Hopewell Cemetery with Andrew Folmar, Judson Ricks, Will Drinkard, Jeff Knotts, Ray Kyzar, and Greg Ricks serving as pallbearers.

A member of the “Greatest Generation”, Boyd spent his life working and working some more. He was employed with the U.S.D.A.  at the   A.S.C.S. office here in Pike County where he enjoyed meeting and working closely with the Pike County farmers.  His second and true vocation was farming and raising cattle.  Farming was a strong part of his DNA.  Even in his final months, he continued to farm, if only in his mind.  Boyd was a decades long member of the Henderson Baptist Church where he served as deacon.  He loved and cared deeply for his church family.  Most importantly was his faith and his love for family.  Daily he continued to speak of seeing and talking to Big Mama and Big Daddy, always expressing concern for their well-being.  Boyd will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him.

Loving survivors include his devoted wife of 67 years, Patricia Drinkard; children, Lisa Mangum (Will), Shelia Folmar (Roy); special nephew, Greg Ricks (Lene’); grandchildren, Andrew Folmar (Ashley), Judson Ricks (Robin), Rachel Cobb, Lauren Hartley (David); great grandchildren, Henry Folmar, Evelyn Ricks, Mary Schaefer Folmar, Eloise Folmar, John Cobb, Alice Ricks, Chapman Cobb; sister-in-law, Pat Tatom; brother-in-law, Raymond Kyzar; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.L. & Ina Beard Drinkard; sisters, Mary Claire Drinkard, Betty Knotts, Ammanette Kyzar; brothers, Charles Drinkard, Billy Drinkard, Hugh Drinkard, Alvin Drinkard, Robert Drinkard, Donnie Drinkard; and granddaughter, Kristin Ricks.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Compassus Hospice as well as to our caregivers, Donna Williamson, Earlene Copeland, and Lynn Nettles.  In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Hopewell Cemetery fund, c/o Bernard Richburg, 8091 CO RD 2290, Goshen, 36035.
