Bobby Joe Henderson, a lifelong resident and beloved member of the Banks community, passed away at home on May 15, 2026. Born on September 27, 1946, Bobby Joe’s life was marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and his love for the great outdoors.
He dedicated many years as an assembler at Lockheed Martin, where his steady hands and quiet determination contributed to the company’s success. Outside of work, Bobby Joe was a man of diverse passions. He truly cherished his time spent fishing at the lake or pond, finding peace and joy in the quiet moments on the water. While he also enjoyed hunting, it was fishing that held a special place in his heart. His love for nature extended to his garden, where he grew tomatoes that found their way into the much-loved tomato sandwiches he so often savored.
Bobby Joe’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was an active and devoted member of Full Gospel Church, where his melodious voice graced the church’s singing. He found deep fellowship among his church family and treasured the community there. His grandchildren and great grands were especially dear to him, bringing light and happiness to his days.
Bobby Joe is lovingly survived by his wife of over 60 years, Betty Henderson, who stood by his side through all of life’s seasons. They shared a bond of enduring love and companionship. Their son, Ricky Henderson, and daughter-in-law, Kim, continue to carry forward his legacy. His grandsons, Corey Henderson with his wife Katherine, and Cody Henderson with his girlfriend, Catie Sanders, remain a source of pride and joy. His great-grandchildren, Kenleigh Henderson, Gage Henderson, and Kinsley Moore, reflect the ongoing blessing of his family’s generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Missouri Henderson, and his brothers, Edward Henderson and Eldridge Henderson. Their memories remain etched in the hearts of those who knew Bobby Joe well.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on May 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home, located at 1621 South US HWY 29, Troy, Alabama 36079. The funeral service will follow on May 22, 2026, beginning at 11:00, also at Green Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Banks Cemetery with Dewayne Henderson, Danny Henderson, Jerry Henderson, Corey Henderson, Cody Henderson, and Scott Henderson serving as pallbearers.
As we remember Bobby Joe Henderson, we honor a man who lived simply and loved deeply—a man whose legacy will continue to ripple through the lives of all who knew him. His spirit, steadfast and gentle, will forever be a part of the natural world he so greatly appreciated, and the family he so deeply loved.
