Aubrey "Leo" Parker

March 22, 1947 — July 25, 2025

Troy, Alabama

Aubrey "Leo" Parker, a master carpenter whose craftsmanship elevated the art of building for nearly five decades, passed away on July 25, 2025, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. He was born on March 22, 1947, in Crenshaw County, Alabama, and touched countless lives through his remarkable work and warm spirit.

For over 40 years, Leo dedicated himself to Whaley Construction, where he became known as the best of the best. His skill and passion translated into the creation of structures that stood not only as physical achievements but also as embodiments of his hard work and determination. Leo embraced every challenge with the mantra that the harder the job, the better he liked it. His proudest accomplishments included tackling intricate carpentry projects, particularly the coveted crown molding that showcased his extraordinary talent.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Leo found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished the time spent with his beloved family, engaging in laughter and storytelling about past good times. His legacy is intertwined with the vibrant memories created with his five children—Michelle Parker, Lenny Parker, Chris Parker, Tina Kent (and her husband Johnny), and Kayla Parker (and her partner Jessie Huhn)—along with his nine cherished grandchildren and four playful great-grandchildren. His sister, Lois Parker, remains a key figure in a family that held each other close through all of life's ups and downs.

In addition to his devotion to family, Leo was a Vietnam veteran, honorably discharged from the Army. His love for nature led him to embrace the outdoor life, where he enjoyed fishing and the tranquility of the natural world around him. An avid animal lover, Leo had a special fondness for horses, which brought him immense joy throughout his life. He had a passion for music, with Willie Nelson being his favorite artist, and spent many evenings unwinding by watching old western shows on television.

Leo's life was defined by his immense contributions, both through his profession and the heart he poured into his relationships. Although he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Betty Parker, and his parents, Audie and Sue Parker, as well as his brother, Roy Parker, and grandson, Josh Parker, the impact he made will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

As we celebrate the life of Aubrey "Leo" Parker, let us remember the joy he found in every nail driven, every laugh shared, and every moment spent with family. His remarkable journey may have ended, but the legacy he leaves behind will endure in the stories, projects, and hearts of all who were fortunate enough to experience his love and talents.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
