Alex Roy Sanders, age 83, of Troy, AL., passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012. Funeral services for Mr. Sanders will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Bush Memorial Baptist Church in Troy, AL., with Reverends Dwayne Norman and Gary Sanders officiating. A committal service will follow at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30 a.m., until service time at Bush Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Sanders retired from the Army National Guard in Troy after 40 years of service and served in the Korean War.  He was a past deacon at Bush Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Sanders was married to his loving wife, Reba Sanders, for more than 61 years. Together they had two sons, Gary Sanders of Chesapeake VA., and Steven Sanders (Ellen) of Troy; one daughter, Sheila Sanders Lett (Miles), of Auburn, AL. He is also survived by his twin brother, Charles Ray Sanders (Theda) and three sisters, Mary Gregory, Martha Wilson (Billy) and Louise Johnston (Randolph). Mr. Sanders leaves behind five grandchildren; Layton Sanders (Arden), Luke Sanders (Dana), Caden Lett, Caroline Lett and Tillman Lett as well as one great-grandchild, Allie Sanders.

Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Estelle Sanders, two brothers; Marion and Daniel Sanders and one sister, Virginia Brown.

Pallbearers for Mr. Sanders will be Kenneth Sanders, Carl Sanders, Tim Sanders, Mark Sanders, Daniel Sanders and David Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Bush Memorial Baptist Church or to your favorite charity.

The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sanders family.
