Mae Lassiter

September 3, 1941 — December 11, 2021

Mae Lassiter, 80, of Troy, Alabama passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021.  Visitation will be at 10:00am on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Green Hills Funeral Home with a Chapel Service at 11:00am.  Rev. Shane Davenport and Dr. Mallone Chandler officiating. Burial will follow the service in Mossy Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Allen, Michael Wambles, Kenny Lee, Danny Sanders, Joey Dickey, Lee Warrick, and Charles Lee.

Mrs. Lassiter was born in Coffee County to Ida Mae Lee Wambles and John Lou Wambles.  She was the middle child of five siblings raised by her single mother and grandparents.  Mrs. Lassiter met Eugene Lassiter and they were married on December 26, 1960.  They were married 32 years until his death in April of 1993.

Mrs. Lassiter loved being around family, friends and people in general.  She enjoyed cooking, collecting recipe books, watching Paula Deen and Brenda Gantt, going to church, and spending time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.  Her other hobbies included Facebook and playing electronic games and puzzles on her iPad and computer.  She wouldn’t miss a chance to go fishing anytime!

Mrs. Lassiter enjoyed her community service.  She was a volunteer at Troy Regional Hospital for many years.  Everyone there was special to her, especially her girls on 2East.  She enjoyed treating them with her tomato gravy and hot biscuits.  Mrs. Lassiter was a member of the Troy Chapter 459 Order of the Eastern Star and Elizabeth Armstrong Chapter 10, Montgomery for 26 years.  She served as Worthy Matron for several years.

Mrs. Lassiter attended Faith Walk Church, Luverne, Alabama and Riverview Baptist Church, Troy, Alabama.  Loving survivors include her son, Brian Eugene Lassiter (Jean) of Troy; daughter, Angela Tatom (David) of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Nikki Davenport (Shane) of Troy, Tiffany Baker (Matt) of Troy, Holly Tatom-Sharer (Stacy) of Ft. Worth, Texas; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Davenport, Dalton Dickey, Keaton Baker, Kenna Baker, Anastasia Tatom-Sharer, James David Tatom-Sharer; her brother, Leroy Wambles; and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lassiter; grandson, John Tatom; parents, Ida Mae & John Lou Wambles; sisters, Molly Sanders, Geraldine Warrick; and a brother, Junior Wambles.
