Nellie Tashjian Dorrill of Banks died Sunday, January 31, 2010. She was born in Watertown, Massachusetts on September 1, 1921.
She moved to Banks in 1946 when she married Gary Dorrill. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. “Miss Nellie” was a homemaker, an avid cook, and frequently assisted her husband in the family business, Dorrill Grocery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary G. Dorrill of Banks and her brother Charles Tashjian of Massachusetts.
She leaves two daughters, Toni D. Stetson of Troy and Sara Beth Ballard of Shalimar, FL. She also had five devoted grandsons: Gary Weil, Banks; Stephen Stetson (Kate), Montgomery; Simon Weil, Banks; Daniel Weil (Michelle), Charleston AFB, SC; and Scott Stetson, Tuscaloosa. She leaves great-grandchildren, Christian, Aiden, and Drue. She leaves three brothers, Jack Tashjian (Margaret) of Troy, Aetna Tashjian, Jr. (Roxie) of Weston, MA, and John Tashjian (Tommy) of Troy, one niece and several nephews in Massachusetts.
She is also survived by dear friends Ken Weil of Troy and Lois Langley of Banks.
Visitation will be at Green Hills Funeral Home Wednesday, February 3rd from 12-1:30 PM. A family graveside service will be held afterwards at Banks Cemetery. Any memorials may be made to Pike County Humane Society, Pike County Animal Shelter, or Habitat for Humanity.
The family thanks their close friends for their love and devotion. Green Hills is honored to serve the Dorrill family.
