I was sorry to learn of Aunt Flois' passing. She was my mother's sister-in-law, having married Mother's brother, J.D. Mother and J.D. were from a large blended family. He was born to Grandma's first marriage and his father died from appendicitis. Mother's father, Andrew Chapman, was widowed with 9 living children. They married and Mother was their only child. She passed away 01/31/10. She attended Uncle J.D.'s 90th birthday celebration and his funeral. Mother and Flois kept in touch by letter and phone calls, until Mother went into a nursing home after a broken hip. Flois was lovely, cordial and the epitome of a Southern lady. I hadn't talked to her since Mother's passing and didn't know she was at Noble Manor until just the weekend before she died. To Louie, wife and sons, our condolences. Also, to Flois' nephews to whom she was very close. I know she will be missed.

Our sympathies to the Grimes family. "Miss Flois" was a great southern lady.
We always enjoyed dining at Grimes Restaurant...great food and great people.
Mr. J.D. and "Miss Flois" were great citizens of Troy and Pike County, and leave quite a remarkable legacy.... her passing truly marks the end of an era.
