FAQs

Q: If I use Green Hills Funeral Home, do I have to use Green Hills Cemetery?

A: No. Green Hills Funeral Home is a full service funeral home with service at Green Hills Cemetery or any cemetery a family chooses.

Q: What is the difference between a cremation service and a traditional funeral service?

A: The only difference in the service is that there is no burial. We offer full funerals including visitation and a chapel or church service for families that prefer cremation as disposition. However, there is a small price difference in the two because there are no cemetery charges and the cremation charges typically are less expensive than cemetery charges.

Q: Do I have to buy a casket if I choose cremation?

A: No. A casket is not required for cremation. A casket is required if a family chooses to have a service with a visitation or funeral service. We have a rental casket available to help offset some of the cost of a casket if one is needed.

Q: What are some of the unique services you provide for families?

A: Green Hills Funeral Home sets itself apart from other funeral homes in the service it provides for its families. We provide ice and bottled water for families at their home or wherever they are gathering to receive friends. We provide refreshments, at no cost to families, at the funeral home for the family and those who attend the visitation or funeral service. Additionally, we have the ability to video record the funeral service for family members that cannot attend and we offer video tributes that can be played during the funeral service. Green Hills is also proud to offer to its families the option of having a horse-drawn hearse to carry their loved ones to their resting place.

Q: Can I pre-arrange my funeral plans?

A: Yes. Green Hills Funeral Home is partnered with Southland National Insurance Company to insure pre-arranged funding for funerals.

Q: Why should I pre-arrange my funeral?

A: Pre-arrangements ease the burden for those left behind to handle the details. You can lock-in today’s pricing for funerals and minimize the decision making that must take place at the time of need. It is also a good way to shelter funds from agencies if a loved one requires assisted living or is uninsurable due to illness.

Q: How do I acquire the documents needed to take care of a loved ones affairs after they pass away?

A: The directors at Green Hills Funeral Home are experienced and knowledgeable concerning the many types of paperwork needed after a death. Green Hills will assist you in getting all the forms required including death certificates, social security benefits, veterans benefits, insurance claims, etc.

Q: Our family is from out of town and we need to get our loved one back home, can you help us?

A: Yes. Green Hills will coordinate with a funeral home in your particular area to ensure all the details and transportation requirements are handled seamlessly and in a timely manner for you.

Q: We can’t really afford a big funeral, can you still help us?

A: Yes. At Green Hills, we are concerned with more than just the bottom line. We pride ourselves in being a partner in the communities we serve and we have funerals available to meet the needs of any budget.

Q: We are not a “traditional” family. Can you accommodate a funeral that meets our particular needs?

A: Yes. We do not discriminate against families due to religious preference. We are in business to accommodate families and not judge them. No matter the beliefs or values of a family, we offer a service that helps them celebrate the life that was lived.
